All in all, I guess I am improving but I really need to get a how-to batik book that'll keep me from wasting more dye, wax, time and effort on something that won't turn out the way I plan. I've also decided that, at some point, I need to invest in the dye additives that make colors rich and vibrant. Everything I do without the additive just looks dull and bland. I won't worry about it any time soon; I've got too much work to do figuring out technique.
